From "An Old Camper"
I was saved, (accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord) at your camp March 14, 1969. I was 12 and in the 7th grade! I came with my church youth group (Northside Bible Church, in Mobile, Alabama, and David Jones was our pastor! I attended every year for AEA in the spring, and for summer camps from 7th to 12th grades!
I will never forget the day I asked Jesus into my heart, and share it when I can! One afternoon during free time, I had fallen down, after I caught my pants leg on a fence that horses were kept in! I tore my new bell bottoms my mother had just made me, and cut my leg up pretty good! My other sister and her friend was near by, so they were able to get me help! That night for service, adults from my church helped me to Chapel service! A pastor (Dave Bowler) from another church, preached on Salvation! I will never forget when he said, "if you had died today, do you know where you would go? Heaven or Hell?
Boy, it was like a 2x4 hit me over the head. I started sweating and gripping the bench in front of me. It was like the whole service was just for me! The Holy Spirit was tugging at my heart! I knew what I had to do, so I began to walk forward, and it felt like no one else was in the room! Only God and I! Dave's brother Steve met me at the front and showed me how to become a Christian! It felt like 1000 pounds had been lifted off my shoulders! I felt God's presence immediately!
I came from a broken home and faced so many problems, even as a child! I finally had a peace that passes all understanding!

I grew up going to Camp Victory every summer, from grade three up to my senior year of high school. It was my favorite thing all year. I remember when the cabins were not all air conditioned and you hope to have the cabin in the back with air conditioning for the week. I had peace when I was at Camp Victory. I could talk to the counselors about anything. I remember I was in about 4-5 grade and I was questioning my salvation. And my counselor brought me aside and reassured me that God would never leave me and He will always love me. I still love Camp Victory and my daughters will be attending and experiencing Camp Victory as soon as they are old enough. I want them to experience the ministry and love of God the way I did each summer. I want to thank everyone who keeps this camp running. My favorite parts of camp were chapel, horse back riding, and watching Mr. Steve use the bull whip to snap paper.
